There’s an embed report over on MediaShift talking about the addition of a FriendFeed widget to the existing Bear & Bull financial blog in Belgium.
It’s good to see publishers using tools like FriendFeed, FlickR, and Delicious, all of which are mentioned in that post. Like most new media services, these are distributed media outlets in their own right, which is what worries most newspapers; content that isn’t on their servers.
I think the newspaper industry needs to learn the value of a loss leader.
All that free content is great brand extension and a great way to bring people back to your site. It’s a loss leader. Or it’s free marketing. Either way you should embrace it.
