The New York Times stops printing tables

In last weekend’s New York Times business section there was a special note about their financial tables:

It looks like they’re finally taking Scott Karp’s advice seriously and cutting back on the useless print expenses. I’m sure other papers will follow.

Is it standard practice to list then ? I feel like I always see it the other way. If so, I like the change.

Frankly, I don’t pick up the paper version of very many dailies anymore, so I can’t tell you with much authority.

I do think, however, that most papers need to take a serious look at what they’re printing and why. A lot of what papers do “by tradition” is because the paper used to be a “pretty good tool” for the job.

Of course now, for most of those things (classifieds come to mind), the internet is far better.
